Why Should Practitioners Take the Certification Examination to become Certified Members?

Why Should Practitioners Take the Certification Examination to become Certified  Members?

The ISELP examination encompasses concepts used in everyday equine locomotor practice. Material is drawn from a series of 8 core anatomic region specific ISELP 3-Day Modules given throughout North America and Europe. A thorough understanding and clinical application of anatomy, pathology, and imaging is required in each of the ISELP examination sections.

 

ISELP EXAMINATION ELIGIBILITY 

 To qualify for the ISELP examination, practitioners must:

  • Have five years of equine practice
  • Registered ISELP member for at least one (1) year
  • Attended each of the 8-region specific anatomic Modules
    • Neck & Back
    • Proximal Forelimb & Neck Connection
    • Pelvis
    • Foot & Pastern
    • Distal Hindlimb Up To Proximal Suspensory Ligament
    • Fetlock, Carpus, & Metacarpus
    • Stifle & Thigh
    • Hock & Crus
  • Register and pay to take the exam. Candidates are only permitted to register for the exam once they have COMPLETED ALL 8 MODULES and corresponding wet labs. 
  • Submit qualifying materials two (2) months prior to examination day

STRUCTURE OF THE EXAMINATION

A) Tests of Knowledge

  •  Multiple Choice Written Examination
  •  Visual Diagnostic Image Identification

B) Practical Skills

  • Evaluate Ten (10) Motion Video Analysis
  • Demonstrate Ten (10) Ultrasound Structures

C) Presentation of Cases

  • Present and Defend two to three (2-3) Clinical Cases. These will be selected for you from the 10 clinical case studies submitted.
  • Present and Discuss one to two (1-2) Scientific Paper Analyses

Once an ISELP Member passes the examination and becomes ISELP Certified, the membership fee to ISELP is waived. In order to maintain the Certified Member status, attendance to an ISELP Advanced Course every 2 years is required. * (Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic this requirement had been waived but starting in 2022 we have re-initiated this policy.)
