Ukrainian Relief Efforts

Ukrainian Relief Efforts
On behalf of the Board of Directors and world-wide Members of ISELP, we stand ready to lend whatever necessary assistance to our friends in Ukraine. Please pass along this information to those of you that may be in a physical, or financial position to assist in this very difficult animal recovery.

Ukrainian Equestrian Federation
Ukrainian equestrians and their horses urgently need help to survive and sustain hope through these terrible tragic times. “Help us to stand for our country and for our values! Being an equestrian means a unique bond between horse and human built on trust. Our commitment to the welfare of our horses is strong at all times and without compromising.”Mykhaylo Parkhomchuk, General Secretary of the Ukrainian Equestrian Federation
There are more than 100 000 horses in Ukraine, many of the horses are caught up in the war, with no possibility to flee and seek safety, with no shelter and care. Horse owners, riding schools, athletes, breeders, and professionals are in desperate conditions without any resources of saving their horses. By making donation or offering help, you will provide the Ukrainian equestrian community a hope for a better future and save lives of the Ukrainians and their loved ones.
The Ukrainian Equestrian Federation Charity Foundation (registered in Belgium) with the assistance from the FEI (International Equestrian Federation) is supporting the Ukrainian horse owners, riding schools, athletes, equestrian clubs, stables and professionals. We give counseling support and other kind of needs-based assistance on the ground, including mapping shelter options and assisting with relocation of horses, gathering offers for goods and organizing logistics to deliver goods to equestrians and their horses both in Ukraine and/or in their temporary locations in Europe.
We monitor the situation with horses´ welfare and collaborate with FEI and national equestrian federations.
Our promise is that as many funds as possible will will be used as direct help for Ukrainian equestrians and their horses in Ukraine (by distributing feed, helping with evacuations and information).
Here is some information we (ISELP) recently received, directly from the Federation:
We currently have two bases set up, one at the Polish border and one within Ukraine. We have been focusing on setting up a transport network from the Polish border to various points within Ukraine to distribute food supplies and the empty trucks are then able to collect horses on their return route to come back to the border to be evacuated. This is free for the Ukrainians to use and is funded by donations to us at the UEFCF.
You can find out more from our website https://helpukrainehorses.eu/
It would be fantastic if you could distribute the information of our organization to your members and if we can discuss how it would be best to coordinate if some of your members are interested in becoming volunteers as part of our networks.
Thank you very much.

The Foundation for the Horse Partners with British Equine Veterinary Association
More help needed; donations welcome
The Foundation for the Horse, the charitable arm of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), announced today a donation of $50,000 to help horses in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
The Foundation is distributing the money through its partnership with the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) and its charitable arm BEVA Trust. The groups are collaborating on equine relief efforts in and around Ukraine with two additional organizations, British Vet Professionals for Ukraine, and British Equestrians for Ukraine.
The goal of this partnership and initial $50,000 gift is to support the veterinary and equestrian communities that have “boots on the ground” and are making an immediate impact for all horses and working equids in Ukraine and in neighboring countries to which animals have been evacuated, including Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova.
This aid is made possible by individual donors who responded to the Foundation’s appeal for assistance in March as well as a matching donation by the Foundation.
“This financial support and partnership with the AAEP and its Foundation for the Horse is important, appreciated and needed,” said David Rendle, president-elect of the British Equine Veterinary Association. “Horses and animals have not been spared from the horrific death and destruction in Ukraine. External support is needed urgently to limit their suffering. Monetary support is what is truly needed to allow us to get medical supplies and equipment to veterinarians and horse owners both inside Ukraine and at the border.”
As the devastation sadly continues in Ukraine, many in the equine and veterinary communities have asked how they can help. Through The Foundation for the Horse, you can make a financial gift to support this effort to help horses in Ukraine.
“Our hearts go out to the animals, their owners, and veterinarians impacted by the devastation in Ukraine,” said Dr. Emma Read, president of The Foundation for the Horse and the AAEP. “We are delighted to be partnering with BEVA, an organization of trusted equine veterinarians that we have a long history of working with for not only equine welfare and education, but now direct equine disaster relief.”
The images and reports from Ukraine and border countries are heart-wrenching. While many residents fleeing Ukraine are trying to take their pets and animals with them, thousands of displaced horses, and other animals remain behind and, like the people of Ukraine, need your help.
Visit The Foundation for the Horse to make your disaster gift, especially if you reside in the U.S. or North America. You may also give direct to BEVA Trust to support this combined effort for the horses of Ukraine.
